Imphal, January 25:
Despite his initial decision not to contest the ensuing State Assembly election from Sekmai AC on being denied party tickets, Khwairakpam Amujao has reportedly been compelled to revoke his stand and join the fray.
A public meeting held today at Sekmai community hall prevailed upon Amujao to contest the election in the interest of Sekmai public who had been allegedly deprived of welfare programmes.
Today's meeting was preceded by a similar one wherein people of Sekmai area resolved to urge Amujao revoke his decision as previously elected representatives neglected Sekmai.
Amujao, on being conveyed of the public decision later arrived at the meeting venue and affirmed he would honour resolution adopted by the people of Sekmai.
After being spurned by the Congress party, Sekmai electorates were expecting the MPP to favour Amujao as he had joined the regional political party, said some locals who lamented that both the Congress and MPP were indifferent to aspiration of Sekmai public.
Despite the fact that Amujao had been an active member of the Congress the national party belittling his contribution to the political organisation and instead allotting the INC ticket to a newcomer reflects favouritism and partiality of the MPCC set-up and its leaders.
