Orange festival on Dec 14

Imphal, November 24 2013:
The 10th edition of the State Level Orange Festival will be held at Longmai (Noney) on December 14 .
Governor Ashwini Kumar, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam will attend the festival as chief guest, functional president and chief host respectively, said a press release issued by the Convener of Media and Publicity Committee.
Among others, Health Minister Phungjathang Tonsing, IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip, PHED Minister I Hemochandra, Rural Development Minister Francis Ngajokpa, Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam, Agriculture and Fisheries Minister Md Abdul Nasir will also attend the function.
Along with different Rongmei dance troupes, cultural groups from Imphal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur and Chandel would present colourful items at the festival, the press release added.
Cash prizes of Rs 1 lakh, Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 would be given to first, second and third prize winners of the Orange Queen Contest, which would be held on December 14 night, added the press release.
Screening for the said contest would be held at Imphal.
Cash prizes for this year's Orange Competition have been fixed at Rs 1.5 lakh (first prize), Rs 1 lakh (second prize) and Rs 75,000 (third prize).
Rs 2,000 each would be given to Consolation prize winners as well.
As part of the mega event, music bands from different parts of the State and other States would perform on December 13 and 14 nights.
The Convenor has requested all concerned not to call bandh, strike or any form of agitation during the festival.
