Imphal, June 21 2015 :
It has been revealed the Forest Department in cahoots with some influential individuals is furtively developing a huge 'ecological park' at Ngariyan Ching (hill) along Imphal-Yairipok road.
The site, which is now under development, is located just 150 metre from the Ngariyan road.
A narrow path was found, that leads to the large open field where the supposed eco park is being developed.
But official sources informed that the site falls under the Protected Forest Area under Waithou Forest Division.
This area is situated in between Ngariyan Ching and Nongmaiching Forest Area.
A forest check post is located on the side of Nongmaiching and so it appears that some forest officials are well aware about the illegal activities.

A highly placed source said an important Congressman is among those who are planning the park.
One excavator is using in levelling three ground areas of the hill and that the work is going on in full swing.
A makeshift camp for labourers was spotted near the site.
Besides, a broad way was also found being constructed there.
A nearby resident told Hueiyen Lanpao that one Suresh from Lilong in Thoubal district is the man who is executing the work for which the Government has no any plan.
The ground levelling work has been continuing since the past five-six months, the local said.
An official from the State Forest Department said some individuals had approached the department proposing for development of a 'green park' at the above site sometime back.
"But the department refused the suggestion.
The department has not received any information regarding the development of the park," the official claimed.
He said an official team will be sent to the site tomorrow to make certain what is really happening there now.
Meanwhile, sources said the Protected Forest Area where the park is being developed is located within Karpu Shungba village.
This village has been producing tasty pineapples which are grown in several fields in the vicinity of the park site.
