Free surgical operations conducted

Extending its philanthropic services to the people, Late Dr Ningombam Ibobi Singh Memorial Trust and Iboyaima Hospital and Research Centre, Singjamei conducted free surgical operations (zero expense to patients) for patients belonging to the BPL families today at the hospital.
According to the organisers, the free surgical camp was organised to commemorate the 17th death anniversary of late Dr Nigombam Ibobi Singh who was a pioneer in bringing a change in the education system of Manipur.
The surgical camp was led by Prof N Jitendra of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) and other staff of JNIMS and Iboyaima Hospital and Research Centre.
Altogether, 31 patients signed up for the free surgical operation.
Today, 16 patients (12 male and four female) patients were operated.
Remaining 15 patients will be operated in the next phase scheduled to be held on April 12 .
Convener of the trust, Maisnam Shivdatta Luwang stated that the free surgical operation was conducted to help the poor and needy people of the State who cannot afford for major operations.
He further urged economically well to do families to extend help in bringing a change in the health sector of Manipur.
A patient, Okram Joykumar (55) of Thounaojam, Thoubal district expressed his gratitude towards the Late Dr Ningombam Ibobi Singh Memorial Trust and Iboyaima Hospital and Research Centre, Singjamei for conducting such free surgical operations.
He added that due to financial instability surgical operation to remove stone from the gallbladder was kept aside for more than 10 years.
He showed appreciation towards the managing director of Iboyaima Hospital and Research Centre Hero Thokchom, doctors, staff and nurses for providing all support for the free surgical operation camp.
In the camp surgical operations for patients suffering from appendix, gynaecology, hernia, gallbladder and urology were conducted.
