13 sent to judicial custody

Imphal, May 16 2021:
13 accused arrested in connection with six different cases registered at Singjamei PS for burning down houses and other properties on February 27 at Kakwa Huidrom Leikai, have been sent to judicial custody till May 29 .
The accused persons viz- Naorem Sanajaoba (34), Naorem Babuloo (31), Naorem Ramesh (31), Naorem Tarukton (38), Naorem Sanatomba (65), Naorem Bipin (31), Naorem Bijen (63), Naorem Abem (35), Naorem Tarubi (37), Naorem Victoria (29), Naorem Elizabeth (29), Konthoujam Lendar (19) all from Kakwa Naorem leikai and Elangbam Naocha of Langthabal Mantrikhong were produced before the Court after the completion of police custody period yesterday with the prayer for judicial custody remand.
They were in police custody in connection with 6 different FIR cases lodged in connection with burning down of houses of one Jibanlata and Keisham Ranjan, vandalising godown of Mobel Furniture House, destruction of a car owned by Longjam Jiban Devi, burning down of Mobel Furniture godown and destruction of two vehicles of Police on February 27 .
The Defense Counsels of the accused persons, on the other hand, filed remand objection and prayed for releasing them on bail.
The Court on perusal of the case record and after hearing from both the APP of the State and Defense Counsel ordered to release all the accused persons on execution of PR bond of Rs 50 thousand and surety of the same amount in connection with the case involving destruction to two police vehicles.
The Court however rejected the bail applications of 7 accused persons namely - Naorem Sanajaoba, Naorem Ramesh, Naorem Victoria, Naorem Elizabeth, Konthoujam Lendar, Naorem Babuloo and Naorem Abem in cases related to burning of houses and destruction to various properties.
Naorem Tarukton, Naorem Sanatomba, Naorem Bipin, Naorem Bijen, Naorem Tarubi and Elangbam Naocha were on the other hand were granted bail in connection with all six different cases on execution of PR bond of Rs 50 thousand along with the surety of same amount besides various conditions and restrictions.
However due to the failure to furnish their necessary PR Bond before the Court, they were remanded to judicial custody along with other accused persons whose bail applications were rejected.
