AMGA celebrates golden jubilee

All Manipur Gymnastic Association has celebrated its golden jubilee at MDU Hall, Yaiskul Police Lane here today.
Speaking as chief guest of the occasion, I Hemochandra, Minister PHED, Labour and Employment stressed that the players need to work hard, rethink and rededicate to bring up gymnastic in the International level again.
Financial support is very much needed in gymnastic or any sports, however, most of the events get good sponsorships.
During the occasion, Parliamentary Secretary Youth Affairs and Sports and Tourism M Prithiviraj Singh said, 50% of the players in the India Football team such as I-League are from Manipur, and also there are State players who are International player and captain in other events too.
Even if the State is financially poor, it is very rich in terms of sports.
Efforts are on to provide training to 100 players each of the age of 5 to 9 years from Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Manipur in 7/8 different events under Ministry of Sports, he added.
Prithiviraj Singh went on to say that efforts are also on to call International coach and conduct a residential camp to provide training for Manipur players in some events in December.
The Government will try to increase the small budget in sports and pay attention to events which have the potential to bring medals in International level.
Other dignitaries at the occasion were Y Surchandra Singh, MLA Kakching AC; and Dr S Shantikumar Singh of All Manipur Gymnastic Association and Treasurer Gymnastic Federation of India.
