Jiribam teachers condemn monetary demand, police action

Jiribam, August 11, 2014:
The teachers of Jiribam sub division under the aegis of All Manipur Elementary Teachers' Association (AMESTA), Jiribam on Monday organised sit in protest held in the front Congress office in Jiribam against the monetary demand by the underground organisations and subsequent police action to the innocent teachers.
The protest was started from 10:30 in the morning and continued upto 3 pm.
The protesting teachers have displayed placards such 'We condemn monetary demand', 'Don't disturb school environment', 'Don't victimise teachers' and also 'Keep education in a Free Zone' etc.
During the protest sitting, the President of AMESTA, Jiribam Th Mangi Singh uttered that the teachers' community is soft and innocent one and they have felt irritation following monetary demand from underground outfits and subsequent police intervention into the matter which resulted the arrest of one innocent teacher by the Jiri police.
He further added that the teachers have organised the sit in protest against underground outfits and also police action which the teachers have received for nothing, adding that they condemned both.
The general secretary of Jiri AMESTA L Rajenkumar Singh demanded to make the education Free Zone from all disturbances including monetary demand which have created tension and restlessness while teaching the students in the classroom.
He also appealed to all concerned to withdraw the monetary demand.
