Ukhrul looks beyond CrPC Act, cries for Naga political solution

The Tangkhul public now, leaving aside the nagging "militarization" and continuing "prohibitory order" in Ukhrul headquarters, went a pitch higher demanding for early solution to the vexed Indo- Naga political imbroglio.
In Ukhrul town on Monday, a horde of public from 42 localities came together and staged a solidarity demonstration towards the ongoing Indo-Naga peace process and demanded for early solution to the decade-long political crisis.
The public movement which was organized under the aegis of the Tangkhul frontal organizations, drew a huge public support as demonstrators shout slogans, held placards and banners on the roadsides of the town from 10.30 to 1.30 PM.
Locals lined up for the demonstration from Dungrei Junction to Awontang, Ukhrul, while shops and other business establishments remained shut during the protest hours.
The cry for early solution to the vexed Naga political imbroglio in Ukhrul became more conspicuous with the attendance of Chandel legislator Victor Nunghlung, who expressed his solidarity with the locals.
UNC vice president Tonsing worngam, TNL President Artax, ANSAM president Seth Shatsang also joined the solidarity movement.
In spite of the section 144 under CrPC Act imposed in Ukhrul town, the public demonstration was successfully organized and no untoward incidents were reported from any part of the town.
The demonstration was held under the watchful eyes of the heavy forces.
