Anti-Malaria Month 2014 observance begins

The Anti-Malaria Month 2018 observance being organized by District Vector Borne Disease Control Society, Imphal West commenced from today along with a function held at Mekola Community Hall here.
The inaugural function was attended by Dasumati, Adhyaksha of Imphal West Zilla Parishad as Chief Guest; Dr S Arunkumar, District Malaria Officer, Imphal East as President while S Subachandra, Member of Hiyangthang GP; L Surchandra, Member of Kodompokpi GP and Dr Y Thaibemma, MO In-Charge, Mekola PHC as Guests of Honor.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Arunkumar stated that it has become important to understand various vector borne diseases like malaria, dengue and Japanese Encephalitis which all could prove fatal if not detected in time for treatment and informed that the government has been taking up prompt measures to prevent these diseases.
He further informed that the State recorded 120 cases of malaria in the year 2013 and appealed to the people to immediately consult doctor if they experienced symptoms of malaria.
