Rally held in connection with "63rd Wildlife Week Celebration 2018" in different districts

Divisional Forest Officer, Jiribam Forest Division Uchathol, Jiribam organized a Mass Rally at around 8.30 am today, in connection with the observance of "63rd Wildlife Week Celebration 2018", held at Jiribam Model High School.
Later, prizes were distributed to the winners of the spot painting, quiz and debating competition held on October 2, during the observance function of "63rd Wildlife Week Celebration 2018" at around 10 am at Jiribam Model High School.
In the mass foot rally held in the morning, which started from Jiribam Model High School to Babupara, various students held placards which read as "Protect Wildlife", "Save Forest, to get Oxygen", "Stop Killing Wild Animal", "Endangered means We Still Have Time", "Wildlife is Mother Nature's Greatest Treasure" and "Fight Against Wild Life Crime" .
The observance function of "63rd Wildlife Week Celebration 2018" was attended by Phillip Kamei, Principal of Jiribam Model High School, Ch Ibomcha Singh, DFO, Jiribam Forest Division and Th Sanatomba, SDPO Jiribam as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Th Rajen Singh, R/O Choudrikhal, Jiribam delivered the welcome speech while H Rajen Kumar, District Wild Life Warden delivered the Key note speech during the observance function and explained the underlying meaning of holding such programme.
Ch Ibomcha Singh, DFO/Jiribam Forest Division said it is our utmost duty to conserve forest to have a sustainable life for human being and animals as well.
He continued that young children should be educated on the importance of mass plantation of tree and its impact on the earth and human being.
He also expressed happiness on being part of such programme which is essential and necessary considering the changing environment which has a huge impact on the life of wild life animals due to mass deforestation.
Meanwhile, Yangoupokpi Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary, Moreh organized a rally in connection with the observance of 63rd Wildlife Week Celebration while about 500 people including students and teachers of Bethsaida school, Moreh Ward No 3 and staff of Yangoupokpi Wildlife Sanctuary Moreh took part in the rally which passed through Moreh Town and culminated at Bethsaida School.
Placards which read as "Save Wild Animals", "Treat wild animals with love" and "Protect Wildlife to protect human beings" were used during the rally.
Officer Yangoupokpi Wildlife Sanctuary Range Moreh K Ibochouba said that the 'Wildlife Conservation Week' was observed to protect wild animals whose numbers are decrbasing day-by-day under the initiative of Government of India.

Tengnoupal Forest Division on the theme "Celebrate Rights of Wildlife" concluded today in a simple function held at Pallel High School, Pallel.
A rally was also held in connection with the concluding function, to spread awareness about the significance of wildlife and the essence of preserving wildlife on earth, which was flagged off from Pallel High School by Divisional Forest Officer Tengnoupal cum District Wildlife Warden Tengnoupal District Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee Devi and passed through Pallel Bazaar.
The concluding function of the wildlife week celebration was attended by SP Tengnoupal Dr S Ibomcha Singh, Divisional Forest Officer Tengnoupal cum District Wildlife Warden Tengnoupal District Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee Devi, Headmaster Pallel High School Salam Manichou Singh, retd DFO Kh Bira Singh, Range Forest Officer Tengnoupal Range Hanjabam Imo Sharma, RFO Moreh Range N Santosh Singh as presidium members while students, teachers and other people also attended the function.
During the function, prizes were distributed to the top three winners of each category of spot painting, quiz and debate competitions which were held on October 3 at Pallel High School for Tengnoupal district.
In the painting competition held on the theme "Man and Wildlife" for Class VI to VIII students, R Medong of Cherith Foundation, Pallel Aimol Road secured the 1st position, Lhingneichong of St Peter School Tengnoupal settled at 2nd position while Kansowa Harvest Maring of Pallel High School finished at 3rd position.
In the quiz competition held for Class IX and X students, the pair of Muani Mizo and Lima Rose Haokip of St George High School Moreh stood 1st, the team of S Imran Nazir, Jabez Thonglenlal Haokip and Jasmin Kumari of the same school secured the 2nd place while team of Janggoulen, Samuel and Seigouchon of St Peter School Tengnoupal finished at 3rd position.
In the debating competition held on the topic "Benefits of wildlife tourism outweighs the potential Risks" for Class XI and XII students, M Channgam Maring of St Joshep Higher Secondary School Liwa Changning was declared the best supporter while M James Maring of the same school was adjudged the best opposer.
Bishnupur: In connection with the 63rd Wildlife Week celebration, a cycle rally was taken out around Keibul Lamjao National Park to raise awareness about the endangered State's animal, Sangai.
With "Celebrate Right of Wildlife" as this year's theme, the rally was organised by Wildlife Wing, Forest Department Manipur in association with Environment Social Reformation and Sangai Protection Forum, Keibul Lamjao.
A total of 200 people participated in the rally which was flagged off by MLA of Thanga AC, T Robindro Singh from the base of Khordak Ichil Nimao Panjeng Dam.
The rally passed through Kumbi Keithel and concluded at Keibul Lamjao.
Deputy Conservator of Forest park & Sanctuary Ajeeta Longjam, Range Officers Birchandra, Naba and Deputy RO Gyanic were present in the event.
MLA Robindro said that Manipur is well known in the National and International area because of Sangai and Keibul Lamjao National Park, among others.
He said that it is the responsibility of all and not just the officials concerned, to safeguard and protect Sangai and its home.
