Nemcha Kipgen chairs COVID-19 review meeting

Kangpokpi AC MLA, Nemcha Kipgen, whose efforts and diplomacy in the fight against the first wave of COVID-19 had been highly appreciated by all has initiated various strategies and plans to combat the second wave in her assembly constituency.
The then in-charge Minister of Kangpokpi and Senapati during the first wave, Nemcha Kipgen met with district administration, police, concerned SDOs, and local bodies in a review meeting at conference hall, DC Office Kangpokpi today.
The local MLA while chairing the first review meeting in connection with the second wave.of COVID-19 took stock of the situation and discussed at length on various plans and strategies to contain the second wave.
The meeting decided to activate the Covid Care Centre at Leikop at the earliest, along with installation of at least 20 bedded Intensive Care Unit like accommodation to felicitate patient infected with the virus.
It was also decided that Community Home Isolation Centre shall be activate at the earliest to accommodate asymptomatic Covid patients.
The MLA also instructed the medical department to procure at least 50 oxygen cylinder and 100 purse oximeter.
She instructed the district police to strictly monitor, enforce SOPs and take action against any defaulters according to the law while directing the district administration to monitor the price hike of commodities and regulate the same.
She further said that containment zone must be properly sealed and strictly monitored by all concerned, department.
According to the district administration, currently 20 villages have been declared containment zones in the district while some are already in a position for de-containment.
Highlighting the severity of the second wave, MLA Nemcha Kipgen said that the second wave is fast and severe, once one is infected with the virus it immediately attacks the lungs and there is no time to treat it.
Once the second wave virus start spreading among the community it will be very difficult to control it, so it is cannot be taken lightly and everyone must take extreme precaution, she added.
'SOPs is our defensive wall so we must strictly adhere to the SOPs and guidelines while a joint efforts is our muscular strength so we must all work together by putting our head together', the MLA asserted.
She also urged all local bodies of Kangpokpi Town to render their support to the district administration, district police, medical department and other frontline workers without any hesitation considering the severity of the second wave in the larger interest of humanity.
She also appealed to all the people of Kangpokpi AC to get vaccinated without any hesitation while cautioning that prevention is better than cure.
Meanwhile, the Nemcha Kipgen also mentioned that rice for the month of May and June would be distributed shortly and urged the local civil bodies to extent cooperation to the concerned department and authority so as to ensure that no one goes hungry while combating the second wave.
With the detection of eight more positive case in the district, active case in Kangpokpi District has reached 57 while 48 are under home Isolation, one hospitalized at Shoja hospital, two at Covid Care Centre at Bal Bhavan and six in isolation camp.
According to the medical department, so far around 4500 persons were vaccinated.
However, since the past few days there has been a rush for vaccination in the district.
The review meeting was attended by DC Kangpokpi, Additional SP(Ops) Kangpokpi, SDOs of Kangpokpi, Champhai and T Waichong, incharge CMO, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Kangpokpi, representatives of Kangpokpi Town Committee, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organization and Kangpokpi Youth Union.
