Imphal, June 02 2013:
Imphal Urban Cooperative Bank Limited's vice president K Kunjakishor Singh has alleged favouritism in the recruitment of the bank's employees charging the director and the president of enrolling their family members.
Lamenting that such recruitment anomalies amount to betraying nearly 23,000 shareholders and depositors, Kunjakishor told newspersons at Manipur Press Club that inaction by the Government of manipur when the State's only cooperative Bank was embroiled in a similar controversy has emboldened the director and the president to continuously exercise unbridled power.
Recounting that a DPC conducted last year had evoked protest from various circles including share-holders leading to the controversy put up before the Chief Secretary, he said expectation that future recruitment process would be held in a transparent and judicious manner could not materialise as the director and president absorbed their family members and close relatives as Bank staff.
In the recent DPC too, the recruitment exercise was conducted without issuance of panel list, advertisement in newspapers or related notification, said the vice president with the assertion that many among the 17 fresh employees are related to either the two top executives or some other officials including the bank manager.
He further confided that complaints on the recruitment irregularities have been placed before the Registrar, Cooperative Society Manipur and RBI, Guwahati on May 29 with the Minister concerned intimated on the same issue
on June 1 .
Contending that failure to initiate punitive action against the guilty officials would compel the Bank employees to launch agitation, Kunjakishor identified Ch Shitaljit Singh of BT Road (Asst Grade-I), Rocky Rajkumar of Paona Bazar (Asst Grade-II), Th Dayananda (Grade-II Singjamei branch) and Th Sadananda (technician) as the sons/relatives of the Director, President, Bank Manager and another top executive of the Cooperative bank.
