Two day seminar on 'Animal Husbandry' concludes

The two day seminar on 'Animal Husbandry with special attention on rearing Cows, Buffaloes, Chickens and Pigs', organised by Ukhrul Hill Development Foundation (UHDF) and Mikpingla Industries (MPI) in association with the Department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and sponsored by NEC, Shillong concluded at Mihao Complex Phungreitang, Ukhrul, yesterday.
The seminar stressed on unequivocally creating jobs for a stable socio-economic condition for the rural farmers and to provide sustainable means of livelihood for those persons, who had returned from different metro cities due to COVID-19 crisis.
Addressing the seminar, Ningchui G Shatsang, Managing Director/CEO, UHDF and MPI, Ukhrul elaborated that the main objective of the programme is to transform the local economy through State Government intervention by encouraging youth in different business and marketing sectors.
Dr L Gojen Singh, Joint Director DVO, motivated the youth about the different prospects and opportunities that are available to change and enhance the local economy in spite of COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Bhubaneswar Singh also encouraged the participants in methodical rearing of pigs, which can generate substantial income in a short time.
Resource persons, Th Chaas Mangilal, Project Officer and Dr Kh Rajen Singh, DVO, urged the youth to establish their own entrepreneurship to compete with other communities in business.
Meanwhile, Yaruingam Ningshen, Director YRP Ukhrul dwelt on resolving the issue of unemployment.
The Director urged the participants to start their own entrepreneurship and went on highlighting the marketing strategy that might help to alleviate their business.
As a part of the programme, free medicines for animals were distributed to all the participants of the seminar.
Sixty five persons from different villages of Ukhrul attended the seminar.
