The indefinite bandh imposed along Mayai Lambi has been called off after a meeting between JAC members and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam today.
The bandh was clamped demanding arrest of the killer of Moirangmayum Chaoba of Samurou Awang Leikai.
JAC members and irate locals continued blocking the road till afternoon.
However, some JAC members met the Deputy Chief Minister at his office chamber in the afternoon.
During the meeting, Gaikhangam informed the JAC members that the police have arrested the killer.
He also urged the JAC members to relax the indefinite bandh.
After the meeting, the JAC members returned to Samurou and informed the angry locals about the arrest of the accused.
They later held a meeting at Samurou Awang Leikai community hall and resolved to call off the bandh.
Before the end of the meeting, some angry youth went to the house of the accused identified as Nameirakpam Sohadeva (20) s/o Gopimohan of Shamurou Mamang Leikai and dismantled the house.
It may be mentioned that M Chaoba was found dead at the foot of a bridge built over Nambul river between Samurou and Thounaojam on May 15 .
