Monetary relief extended to victims of Maram inferno

Imphal, March 15 2012:
Monetary relief of Rs 50,000 each has been extended to the victims of Maram Bazar inferno of March 11 which reduced 19 shops to cinders.
While 19 shops were completely reduced to cinders, 29 other shops were also partially damaged.
Most of these shops were run by non-local people including Biharis though the shops were owned by local people belonging to Mao and Maram areas.
Monetary assistance of Rs 50,000 given from Chief Minister's discretionary fund were distributed to each of the victims by Tadubi AC MLA Francis Ngajokpa.
The monetary assistance was distributed at Maram Bazar in presence of Maram Bazar Board members and local leaders.
Speaking at the occasion, Francis Ngajokpa appealed to all the communities to live together in harmony as members of a single family.
He exhorted all the communities to help each other at times of such calamity.
