IGAR (S) celebrates 9th Birthday

Upon attaining nine years of existence, the HQs Inspector General Assam Rifles (South) today celebrated its raising day anniversary which marked the culmination of the four day celebration.
raised in 2004 at the historic Kangla Fort before finally establishing itself at Mantripukhri, the celebrations to commemorate the grand occasion kicked off on March 12 with Meena Bazaar and Pagal Gymkhana, followed by Badakhana on March 14 at which personnel from sectors and units were also invited.
The events saw perceptible participation by ex-servicemen of the Force from all parts of Manipur in the festivities and shared their inspiring experiences and nostalgic memories.
The event also provided them a platform to interact on welfare aspects.

The grand day was speckled with event, including religious gathering to invoke blessing of the Almighty followed by a special Sainik Sammelan wherein the IGAR (S) Maj Gen UK Gurung, conveyed his best wishes to all ranks of the force and applauded their efforts towards creating a conducive and secure environment in the state.
The festivities culminated with a social function at the Officers Mess this evening which was graced by Governor Gurbachan Jagat.
A number of dignitaries from the civil administration also attended the function apart from the top brass of Assam Rifles.
Everyone present appreciated and lauded the inspiring role of nation building played by Assam Rifles, specially the hard work put in by all ranks to ensure largely violence free and successful conduct of the recent elections.
The nostalgic evening concluded to the tunes of the ceremonial band which made the occasion a memorable one was another chapter was added to the annals of the history.
