Keirao AC set to become a medical hub: Planning Board Deputy Chairman

Keirao Assembly Constituency in Imphal East will become a medical hub after some years, said Manipur State Planning Board, Deputy Chairman MLA Lourembam Rameshwar today.
He was speaking as chief guest at a meritorious award presentation ceremony held at Kyamgei Mayai Leikai Community Hall, organised by the united Progressive Adults' Association (UPAA).
Work has started for construction of Imphal East District Hospital at Kyamgei.
Work for construction of a 50-bedded Ayush hospital at Keirao is also set to begin soon.
Construction of a Ayush testing lab has started.
In addition to this, efforts are on to build State's Maternity and Child Hospital at Keirao as soon as the Centre sanctions, he said.
The construction for the District Hospital had started with release of Rs 5 crore for groundwork and fencing.
However, subsequent funds have not been released due to some issues.
Nonetheless, the State Government had sent a proposal for Rs 73 crore to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
With the release of the 50 percent of the proposed amount, construction of the District Hospital is expected to be finished by next year, he said.
UPAA chief patron and former CE M Loken, former Education Department Deputy Secretary H Mathang, senior citizen Ch Kumar, Standard Robarth Hr Sec School founder Ph Landhoni, IPS Principal Asem Kennedy attended the event.
Students who excelled in the HSCLE and HSE 2020 were feted and encouraged.
MLA L Rameshwar also feted IPS Principal A Kennedy on him winning Global Teacher Role Model Award 2020 .
