(MTDTS and PC) Annual function show held

Meitei Traditional Dance Teaching School and Performing Centre (MTDTS and PC) organised its 19th Annual Function Show at Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy Hall on December 30 .
Organised under the theme "Peace and prosperity under the roof of love and unity, preservation of traditional culture", the function was graced by Director Art and Culture Dr K Sobita Devi and Padmashree Retd JNMDA Sr Guru Yumlembam Gambhini Devi as chief guest and president respectively.
As part of the annual show, dances and songs such as Lai Haraoba and traditional Meitei folk song were performed by students and artists of the centre.
A lecture cum demonstration on Lai Haraoba dance "Yumsharol Jagoi" was also facilitated by A Shiloni, a senior student of MTDTS and PC.
Inaugurated on September 18, 1993, the centre schooled around 900 students since inception in which 70 students and 20 artists are still with the centre at present.

A newly composed Manipuri traditional form of dance called "Irel" (Ocean) was also demonstrated by the artists of MTDTS and PC .
