Election cancelled following clash between students

The students' union election of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary School has been cancelled after members of the student body of another school disrupted the election of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Students' Union today.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, class XII student Keisam Blija said that two candidates failed to turn up for election scrutiny yesterday.
The candidatures of both the candidates were therefore cancelled.
When the students were standing in queue to cast their vote, some school students alongwith union members of another school dismantled the election rooms including ballot papers.
A heated fight between the school students and other party followed.
A team of Porompat police had to intervene to bring the situation under control.
In connection with the incident, one male Student has been arrested by the police.
The school Principal declined to comment on the matter.
In the meantime, the All Manipur Students' Union has ordered to conduct the election within three days.
Speaking to media persons at AMSU head office, DM College, union general secre tary Manjeet Sarangthem said that the election was cancelled after a fight broke out among the students.
Yesterday, an argument erupted after which a group of students thrashed two election candidates namely Lunminlen Baite (class XI Arts) and Mangricky Vaiphei (class XI Arts) who were campaigning for the election.
Both the candidates did not turn up for scrutiny.
As aresult, candidature of the candidates were cancelled.
The atmosphere remained tense in the school campus till this morning.
Therefore, the election could not be conducted successfully.
Manjeet said.
Terming the incident as unfortunate, he added that he school authority and election committee should take resporsi-bility for the incident.
