Imphal, September 21 2016:
BJP Manipur Pradesh has accused the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly of abusing the 1 Oth Schedule of the Constitution.
Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP MLA Kh Joykishan alleged that the Speaker has rendered the Constitution meaningless.
Disqualification cases filed in 2014 against five MSCP MLAs who joined Congress and one LJP MLA are still pending.
Similar disqualification cases were filed against the four AITC MLAs who joined Congress recently.
"On the other hand, the Speaker issued a disqualification order on May 24 last year for three MLAs including Thongam Bishwajit and myself', Joykishan said.
"Even though Bishwajit and me were re-elected in the by-election, the disqualification order pertaining to the third MLA was stayed by the High Court of Manipur", he continued.
While the disqualification case was filed against four MLAs, the disqualification order pertained to only three MLAs.
It only testified that the Speaker was partial, Joykishan said.
The Speaker's biased attitude was exposed further when he kept his judgement reserved for a prolonged period.
BJP Manipur Pradesh would launch a dhama against such unethical conduct of the Speaker from October 1.BJP would not remain silent to the massive recruitment drives launched by the State Government recently and the anomalies committed in the process, added the MLA.
It appeared that the authorities concerned have been hand-picking candidates starting from issuance of admit cards and shortlisting of candidates for interview for appointment of 155 ANMs/FHWs in the Directorate of Health Services, Joykishan alleged.
