RIMS financial irregularities case : Charge hearing order on Oct 14

Sessions Court Imphal West today fixed October 14 as the date for passing charge hearing order of the case on alleged financial irregularities in RIMS involving former Director Sinam Sekhaijit and four others.
Regarding the criminal conspiracy allegedly hatched by the officials of RIMS and a private individual while purchasing dental chairs and other materials of RIMS between January and June 2013, CBI (Anti Corruption Bureau) had charge sheeted against former RIMS Director Sinam Sekharjit of Singjamei Chingamakha, RIMS Dental College and Hospital Principal Dr Rajiv Ratan Singh from Uttar Pradesh, RIMS Chief Accountant Officer cum Advisor Elangbam Devendro, former Medical Superintendent Haobam Shanti of Wangkhei Khunou and proprietor of M/S Mukheijee Enterprises, Subendra Mukheijee of Kolkata.
All the accused persons were present during today's Court hearing.
After the hearing the sub; missions of CBI counsel and defence counsels, the Court fixed October 14 as the date for passing charge hearing order of the case.
It may be mentioned that on March 31 this year, CBI (ACB) submitted charge sheets against the accused persons before the Sessions Court, Imphal West under RC 6 (A) of 2014 under Section 120 (B) 420/428 and 471 .
The charge sheets were submitted after CBI (ACB) investigated the report of the criminal conspiracy allegedly hatched by the officials of RIMS and a private individual while purchasing 38 dental chairs of RIMS and other equipments between January and June 2013 .
The dental chairs were allegedly acquired at an inflated rate of Rs 3,75,000 per chair although the dental chairs of the same standard were available at the market at Rs 1,31,000 per chair causing a loss of more than Rs 50 lakh to RIMS.
The tender notice to purchase the dental chairs was issued by Professor S Sekharjit on January 15, 2013.However, the notice did not mention the required number of dental chairs.
Following the notification, RIMS received quotations from M/s North East Dental Depot, Guwahati, M/s Unicom Denmark Ltd, M/s Mukheijee Enterprises Kolkata, M/s Nim Pharmaceuticals, Guwahati and two other firms.
CBI team accompanied by a large number of security personnel raided the private residences and quarters of Professor Sinam Sekhaijit and other RIMS officials and Administration Block of the medical institute from 6 am till late night on September 12, 2014 with due order from the relevant authority.
