Flood rescue training programme starts

As many parts of the State are facing flash flood due to incessant rains, the Relief and Disaster Management Manipur and Civil Defence, under the sponsorship of Secretariat of Relief and Disaster Management, has started a three day Flood Rescue Training programme at Khordak Mayai Leikai Community Hall, Bishnupur.
Deputy controller of Relief and Disaster Management Manipur Md Ayub Khan, social worker Salam Shamu Singh, Instructor of Civil Defence K Kamini Singh and Khordak Gram Panchayat member Heisnam Lalita Devi attended the opening day as presidium members.
Khordak was chosen as the right location for the training programme as the area is prone to flood, said Md Ayub Khan.
The training programme will equip the local people with knowledge and training of carrying out rescue missions at times of flood.
Experts at the training programme demonstrated use floating aides.
Youth of the area, community leaders and women organisations took part in the training programme.
