Current flood situation report

Imphal, June 15 2018:
According to the current situation report on flood issued by the Director of Relief and Disaster Management, Manipur, the State has experienced 120 mm of rainfall till date as per the Indian Meteorological Department.
A total of five districts, namely Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Kakching, have been affected by the flood and the total number of affected village stands at 218.It further reported that a total of 1,89,852 people have been affected while 22,624 houses have been affected.
7 people lost their lives while 49,494 have been evacuated as a result of the flood.
A total of 149 relief camps have been opened and the total number of inmates at the camps is currently at 32,591 .
The report further mentioned that relief materials like rice, dal, salt, edible oil, candles, mosquito coils, match boxes etc have been distributed to the affected people and the detailed reports of total affected crop areas and infrastructure damage are awaited.
It further stated no forms of assistance have been provided by the Central Government side, like National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other Central Ministry and Departments, except J&K Rifles (Army) and CRPF which assisted the flood affected people.
It continued that State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), State police force also took part in assisting the people.
