Establishment of educational institutes will boost State's economy: Khemchand

Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand has opined that the establishment of educational institutions which can attract students, including from other States will go a long way towards boosting the economy of the State.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest in the "Foundation stone laying ceremony cum inauguration of administrative block and office building of Odyssey Transport" today.
The ceremony was organized by UNACCO School at Meitram, Imphal West district.
The Speaker further said that a large portion of the total economy of the State is being flowed out to other States annually as many native students prefer to go outside the State in search of better institutes.
Lauding that UNACCO Group is taking up certain initiatives in the education sector and tourism allied sector, apart from taking a pivotal role in financing loans to budding entrepreneurs and small business persons, Khemchand opined that one should appreciate another when he/she does a good deed.
Delivering presidential speech at the function, UNACCO School Chairman N Irabanta Singh conveyed that the UNACCO Group is setting eye on opening a college in the State which can cater the requirements of students in the current trend of education system.
He also said that the company (UNACCO Group) will also open four schools in four valley districts in consideration of the growing demand for qualitative schools in the State from parents/guardians.
Claiming that the UNACCO School at Khongman, Imphal East cannot meet the demands of the public as number of students, seeking admission there, always outnumbered its intake capacity, Irabanta went on to declare that UNACCO School which will be opened at Meitram, Imphal West will give special concession to the local students.
He stated that necessary infrastructures, such as fields/tracks for outdoor games will be facilitated to the students on top of the present facilities like swimming pools, once the construction of new UNACCO School at Meitram is complete.
The UNACCO School will adopt best methods of teaching and learning system from time to time, he said while contending that a comprehensive form of education system, including technological orientation is much important for providing qualitative education to students and to be able to take part in this competitive world.
The function was also attended by Konthoujam A/C MLA Dr' Sapam Ranjan Singh and former Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Haobam Borbabu Singh as guests of honour among others.
