Mishap claims one

Imphal, July 08 2013:
One assistant driver of an oil tanker was killed while the driver is undergoing treatment at Naga Hospital, Kohima in critical condition after their oil tanker met with a mishap at Zakhama, Nagaland at around 10.45 last night.
The oil tanker was part of a convoy of 28 vehicles including 11 LPG bullets and 17 oil tankers which were heading for Imphal from Khatkhati at about 6 pm yesterday.
The deceased assistant driver has been identified as P Hemchand (19) s/o Heramot of Waithou.
The injured driver is one Sunder from Phumlou.
The truck fell down a hill slope as deep as 200 feet.
The dead body of Hemchand was retrieved by a joint effort of the All Manipur Road Transport and Motor Workers' Union and the kohima District Drivers' Union.
The corpse has been brought to Imphal after post mortem at Naga Hospital, Kohima.
The All Manipur Road Transport and Motor Workers' Union has, meanwhile, conveyed solidarity to the bereaved family of the dead handyman.
