Imphal, March 27 2018:
Even as the Manipur Government Services Federation (MGSF) had announced through media that they would launch indefinite cease work strike from April 2 in case the employees' demand for implementation of the 7th Pay is not fulfilled by April 1, two functionaries of MGSF were pulled up from their homes by Porompat police yesterday, informed a source.
They were released this afternoon as they are not part of the ongoing cease work strike.
MGSF president Iboyaima of Wangkhei Angom Leikai and general secretary Purujit Lairikyengbam of Checkon Wangkhei Khunou were pulled up by police from their respective homes at around 11 pm yesterday in connection with the ongoing cease work strike which is spearheaded by the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO.
Taking strong exception to the arrest of the two functionaries, MGSF lodged a written complaint to Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Dr J Suresh Babu.
As it was later learnt that the duo have nothing to do with the ongoing cease work strike and the MGSF is yet to launch any such strike, they were released at around 2.30 pm today.
Meanwhile, one Santa, an executive member of the JAC of AMTUC and AMGEO was arrested by police from his Heingang residence yesterday.
Santa is said to be an LDC in Education(S) Department.
