Defaulting urea agent picked up

An agent who was selling urea at inflated price was pulled up by a joint team of police and officials of Agriculture Department.
The unscrupulous agent has been identified as Luwangshangbam Ibohanbi of Sekta.
He runs a shop at Pungdongbam Lamkhai where urea was also sold.
According to Assistant Fertilizer Officer of Agriculture Department Gopen, Ibohanbi was an agent working under dealer Th Jeet.
Ibohanbi took 80 bags of urea from Th Jeet and he was selling the same bags at Rs 650 per bag in the last 10 days.
In accordance with the instruction issued by Agriculture Department to all District Agriculture Officers to see that urea is available to farmers at Rs 520 per bag, Imphal East District Agriculture Officer conducted a drive in Lamlai area together with a police team today.
It was during this drive that urea was found being sold at Rs 650 per bag.
Agent Ibohanbi was found selling around 10 bags of urea at Rs 650 per bag today.
On being reprimanded, Ibohanbi promised before the police team that he would never sell urea above its normal price henceforth and that he would reimburse the additional money he collected from his customers.
Assistant Fertilizer Officer Gopen conveyed that Ibohanbi purchased urea from dealer Jeet at Rs 520 per bag as stated by the agent himself.
