Imphal, November 28 2011:
The proscribed UNLF has condoled the death of Maoist leader Koteshwar Rao alias Kishenji who was allegedly "murdered by CRPF at the behest of capitalist Indian Government on November 25 at Jhargram, West Bengal".
A press release issued by the outfit's senior publicity officer Ksh Yoiheiba said that comrade Kishenji was a great revolutionary fighter who fought for 37 long years for the poor and the downtrodden.
He was also a true revolutionary who stood by the genuine cause of the Manipuris, fighting to regain their lost sovereignty and independence which was "forcibly annexed by India" .
The UNLF shared the pain and sorrow of the bereaved family and Maoist comrades as well.
Kishenji's connection with the Maoists dates back to the days of the PWG and he was instrumental in unifying the Maoists.
