Objections raised against Noney TA site

Noney, April 27 2019: The State Government's plan to build a transit accommodation centre for teachers, doctors and medical staff who are posted at Noney, has started to court controversy with the locals.

On the other hand, a team of Noney Village Authority led by chairman of Noney (Longmai) village and workers of BJP Noney Mandal, inspected the proposed site for the transit accommodation centre and the chairman of Noney village Kasaigai Gangmei has also appealed to the State Government to take up necessary actions against DC Worshing Hungyo who is allegedly opposed to any positive action done or planned in the district.

Speaking to media persons during the inspection trip, Kasaigai Gangmei said that work order for construction of the transit accommodation centre was issued on February 2 this year and alleged that the DC is attempting to construct the transit accommodation centre at the campus of Tengkhojang Higher Secondary School, which is against the wishes of the people.

He continued that the people wish that the structure be built at the place where the Primary Health Centre is located as it is also near the National Highway and the leaders of Noney Pat I, II, III, IV, V and VI had also agreed to have the transit accommodation centre built at that specific place.

The existing accommodation facility of doctors and nurses/staff of the PHC is currently in a deplorable state but on the other hand, Tengkhojang Higher Secondary School has many great facilities which include the school building itself and a nice auditorium, he added.

Reasoning that construction of the transit accommodation centre at the school campus will render it worthless in the long run, he opined that constructing the facility near the PHC will benefit all.

The chairman then continued that the village authority will never accept the attempt of the Noney DC to politicise the matter and construct the facility at the school campus even though the Noney Village Authority had already approved the construction of the transit accommodation centre near the PHC to bring development for all.

He also appealed to the State Government to look into the matter and take up necessary actions against the erring DC at the earliest.
