Malaria scare in Kasom Khullen, Ukhrul

Imphal, July 24 2011:
Suspected malaria cases have been detected in villages under Kasom Khullen Sub-Division of Ukhrul district.
According to a press release issued by the Secretary of Kasom Khullen Sub-Division Development Association (KKSDDA), around 10 villagers including children and women are down for the past five days with symptoms of malaria at Ashang Khullen.
Similar reports are also coming from Indo-Myanmar border villages of Bungpun, Wanglee, Makan, Punomram, Kankum, Khonglo, Nambashi valley and Manthouram, it added.
Maintaining that these villages are malaria prone areas, the press release added that five-six persons die of malaria and lack of medical facilities every year in these areas.
KKSDDA urged the authority concerned to immediately send medical team to these areas.
