Kangpokpi district celebrates 65th Cooperative Week in style

As part of the 65th Cooperative Week celebration kicked off yesterday at GM Hall Imphal, Kangpokpi also celebrated the occasion in the grandest way at its District Headquarters Kangpokpi at ADC Sadar Hills Conference Hall.
The celebration under the theme, "Inclusive growth and good governance through Cooperatives for rural prosperity" and under the topic, "Cooperatives - Key for organic farming and Zero budget farming" was organized jointly by Manipur State Cooperative Union, Lamphelpat, Imphal and District Cooperative Office, Kangpokpi.

operative Union attended as president while Thangjakam Misao, Vice Chairman, ADC Sadar Hills, Jeena Potshangbam, vice president, MSCU, Jangkhongam Haokip, vice president, MSCU, Seikhomang Khongsai, president, Kuki Inpi Kangpokpi district, Lunseh Kipgen, Chairman Kangpokpi Town Committee, H Bimolchand Sharma, DCO, Kpi, O Jiten Singh, CEO, MSCU and Sumo Akham, ARCS(ICDP), Manipur attended as guests of honour.
ADC Sadar Hills Chairman, Haokholal Hangshing led the cooperative flag hoisting and lamp lighting ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Haokholal Hangshing said that people of newly created Kangpokpi district, in particular the educated unemployed youth, should make the effort to come together, register themselves as Cooperative Societies and take up overall development related activities in the region.
He opined that working together as a cooperative society would yield better results and improves the financial condition and livelihood of the people in the district.
He stated that loans are easier to get when registered as a society and encouraged the youth.
Other speakers on the occasion also stressed on how overall development in newly created Kangpokpi District can be achieved through the proper implementation of activities undertaken by cooperative societies thereby uplifting the economy of the place.
Cooperatives societies members, LAMPS leaders, various civil society organizations leaders and members attended the event.
