Illegal arms, ammunition seized

Imphal, December 12 2014 :
Troops of Red Shield Division in a well planned attempt busted arms dealers during an attempt to smuggle a huge consignment of weapons and ammunition inside the State along the Indo-Myanmar border, according to a statement issued by PRO(Defence), Imphal.
The apprehendees have been identified as Khenthang (48) s/o Luthsuanthang of Zamphi district Tonzang (Myanmar), Paudoa (45) s/o Thang Khogin of Zamphi district Tonzang (Myanmar) and Seamtong (36) s/o Pau Suanthong of Zamphi district Tonzang (Myanmar) .
The special operation was launched by troops of Red Shield division from Churachandpur district.
A precisely executed operation resulted in apprehen- sion of three arms dealers along with seven MA III MK II Rifles, 14 magazines and 19 rounds packed in a steel case and cash of 2,08,000 Kyat.
Further interrogation revealed that the consignment was bought from Kalemyo on December 6 and were being illegally smuggled inside Manipur to abet insurgent activities.
The apprehendees alongwith recoveries have being handed over to the police.
