Imphal, June 12 2011:
Leipak Kanba Ahallup (Leihallup), a senior citizens' body, has taken up the matter of rampant corruption in the State to Anna Hazare, Drafting Committee Member of Lok Pal Bill.
Leihallup dashed off a letter in this regard to the anti-corruption activist yesterday.
The body said that the State Cabinet had decided not to implement Lok Pal Bill in the State, which according to Leihallup was outrightly condemned by various organisations and individuals.
The letter also urged the anti-corruption activist to press the Government for implementation of the Bill in Manipur as well.
Maintaining that corruption is so rampant in Manipur that the State can be given the title, 'Land of Corruption', Leihallup said that politicians, contractors, engineers bureaucrats etc are all running after money with no authority to check it.
