The United Naga Council (UNC) has said that the NSCN-IM and the Government of India should continue the peace process saying that if the cease-fire was extended this time both the parties (NSCN-IM-GOI) must worked out a definite time frame so that "the peace-process do not drag on timelessly." In a faxed message sent to Newmai News Network today UNC vice president Puni Modoli said that the grass-root level expectations and the genuine desire of the people was all for the peaceful solution to the Naga problem and that "the Govt of India is not likely to walk away from finding a permanent solution to the five decade old Naga movement that had defied a military solution".
The statement of the UNC leader also said that the NSCN-IM must also heed the sincere desire of the people to ensure that the cease-fire is extended.
