The Zomi Human Rights Foundation (ZHRF), a Lamka based rights groups today expressed strong condemnation of the �inhuman treatment� given to Mr Lalramthanga alais Vala, 25, s/o Rohlira of Ngurte village by a militant group on July 27 morning and said that it is a grave violation of basic human rights inherent in all persons.
Vala was shot below the knee in both legs at Khumujamba Meitei Leikai here.
The ZHRF also expressed appreciation of the Meira Paibee groups who took care of Vala and urged that all militant groups to desist from giving such punishment.
In another macabre incident, a forty five year old non-local man today reportedly cut himself with blades at Khumujamba Leikai, near Rengkai bridge here, grievously injuring himself.
Lakhinder s/o Ibobi Singh suffers from cut wounds in the neck and both arms and is being treated at the District Hospital, Ccpur.
He is living in a rented building at New Bazar and is reportedly having debt.
Internet Line Restored: The internet line linking Churachandpur which have been inaccessible since the beginning of this month finally started functioning from last night.
It may be mentioned that an organization comprising all net- users in the town have been formed yesterday to pressurize the telecom authorities to provide better service.
In the meanwhile, all line buses plying between Lamka and Imphal suspended service today due to a protest rally held today at Imphal.
