CCpur, October 23 2017:
With the commencement of activities for constructing the new mothers' market complex in Churachandpur, a blot allegedly in its style of execution has tainted the exercise early, as the Young Mizo Association (YMA) has accused the local authority of trying to dislodge their office sans courtesy .
The YMA Lamka branch has since Saturday resorted to holding a sit-in, striking a stand that it will not move out from the office they have occupied since 1993 unless the Government pays them compensation or makes an alternative arrangement .
The stance, according to YMA leaders, was taken as the ADC Churachandpur has opted to respond to all their efforts of negotiating a solution with an outright eviction notice, not showing even the slightest of courtesy .
The office located on the first floor of a town-bus parking shed at the ADC's plot where the new market will come-up was utilised by the YMA as their branch office for over a decade now with the organisation footing its upkeep .
'We fully understand that the structure stands on ADC's land and we have no intention to seize it.
However the Government choosing to bully their way, disregarding our cordial approach for a solution and ignoring courtesy by delivering a memo about the decision to dismantle the structure two days after serving us eviction notice smacks of any scrupulous intention,' said Zothanga, secretary YMA Lamka branch .
He further alleged that they have personally met the ADC Chairman along with several of his Cabinet but despite the assurance for another round of meeting, they were slapped with the eviction notice .
In one of the suggested meetings, the YMA leaders waited for the ADC member who is in-charge of the town, at his residence for over half-an-hour waiting him to wake-up from bed but in vain while the other members too never turned up .
Attempts to contact the ADC Chairman today, to know his side of the story proved futile, as he did not picked up the phone nor responded to queries sent on text message.
An official source however said the ADC will obviously go ahead with the dismantling plan but how exactly is yet to be discussed.
