Students lock VC's office

Fuming over the authority's failure to conduct classes at Manipur University of Culture located at Palace Compound, incensed students of the university locked office of the Vice-Chancellor today .
Talking to media persons, finance secretary, Manipur University of Culture Students' Union, Haobijam Bidyananda said that teachers of the university set October 18 as the deadline for the State Government to release their pending salary for ten months .
He said that the Government's failure to release the pending salary despite the deadline prompted the teachers to cease conducting classes .
It has been two weeks that the teachers stopped taking classes in pursuit of their demand.
This has greatly affected the students academically and psychologically, he lamented .
He also asked why should the students suffer from such protests by teachers .
Bidyananda warned of launching different forms of severe agitation if the university authority and the agitating teachers fail to resume classes by settling the issue at the earliest.
