Imphal, October 22:
After thoroughly deliberating on various points put forward by the Joint Parliamentary Committee during a meeting of the State Cabinet held today with the Chief Minister in the chair, it was decided to enforce State specific Acts rather than a common Act for all the States.
According to a senior Minister of the SPF Govt, the meeting agreed to suggest the Parliamentary Committee to implement Acts specific to each State instead of a common Act as Manipur Legislature (Removal of Disqualification) Fourth Amendment Act 2006 is already in place in Manipur.
Moreover, the State Govt has already compiled a list of corporations/institutions which are exempted from the office of profits.
On the other hand, it is reported that a team of Principal Secretaries, Commissioners and Secretaries headed by the Additional Chief Secy will attend a meeting of North Eastern States on constitutional and legal provisions of Office of Profit convened by the Parliamentary Committee on October 25 and 26 at Guwahati.
The official team will leave Imphal on October 24.
