Imphal, November 15 2009:
Local bodies and Gram Panchayat members of Tokpaching and Nongmaikhong area urged upon the security forces not to level charges against innocent villagers of being connected with underground elements.
A press release jointly issued by secretaries of All Tokpaching Meira Paibi Welfare Association and All Tokpaching Women Development Association and three GP members of Arong Nongmaikhong alleged that a combined team of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police commandos picked up one Salam Kiran s/o Budhi of Tokpaching Chandonpokpi Leikai on November 10 at around 3 am from his house and later charged him that he is an RPF cadre.
The press release clarified that Kiran is an innocent civilian.
