Autonomous Hill District Councils and Zilla Parishad in Manipur will get 30 percent of the total funds allocated under the UPA's flagship programme, National Rural Employment Generation Scheme (NREGS).
A decision regarding the allocation of the funds available under NREGS has been revised recently under the guidelines of the scheme.
As per the revised fund allocation, 50% percent of the total available funds will be provided to gram panchayat, 30 percent to the district autonomous councils in hills or zilla parishad in valley districts and the remaining 20 % to the line department.
Earlier, no fund allocated to the zilla parshad and gram panchayat was allocated 70 percent of the funds, an official of the implementing agency of the schemes/projects, rural development told today.
Manipur government allocated Rs 900 crores out of the annual outlay of Rs 2000 crores for the year 2009-10 for the implementation of NREGS under the rural development programme.
The amount is earmarked as state matching share of the scheme, the official said.
According to the latest compiled report on the status of implementation of the NREGS in the state, 366893 households have been provided jobs under the scheme till October last against 386414 job cards issued by the authority.
Scheduled tribes of the state are availing maximum benefits of the scheme in Manipur with 226192 households got job cards out of 386414 total households.
Job cards to 5416 households belonging to scheduled caste have also availed job cards by the authority while the rest 154806 to households of general category.
A total of 211 disabled individuals have also availed the benefits of the scheme, the report added.
