Over 500 people availed benefits of free medical camps were conducted today at Bashikhong in Imphal east district and at Nongmaikhong in Bishnupur district organized by different organizations.
The free medical camp at Bashikhong Panthoibi Lampak in Imphal east district was organized by the KRIPA Society in association with Bashikhong Panthoibi Youth Club.
A total of 203 locals including 123 women turned up to check up their health in the camp.
Two specialists doctors examined the people and organizers distributed medicines recommended by doctors to the needy people.
Manipur Voluntary Health Centre took major role in the successful conduct of the camp.
The free medical camp at Nongmaikhong Junior High School campus in Bishnupur district where around 300 villagers availed the benefits was organized by the HERICOUN in collaboration with the Nongmaikhong Athletic Youth Advantage Club.
Five doctors were assisted by four pharmacists, two staff nurses, one male health supervisor, one male health worker, two laboratory technicians and one counselor in the camp which villagers of Nongmaikhong, Khordak, Arong and Laphupat Tera availed the benefits.
Today's medical camp was third time in the area during the current year in the aftermath of the Loktak Operation that was launched by the security force in the early part of this year.
There is only one primary health sub-centre in the area which home to around 2000 people.
The PHSC is functioning with no doctor but a nurse and a male health worker.
The PHSC open only three days in a week, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday which caused outmost inconveniences to the villagers.
