Imphal, October 15 2011:
Stating that some elements have been putting up hurdles when he took up development works within his Assembly Constituency in his capacity as an MLA, Wangkei AC MLA Yumkham Erabot has questioned why the Government is silent to such disturbances.
He asked if there was no rule of law in the State.
Speaking to media persons today, Minister Erabot said that when workers laid out shingles to repair the Mercy Lane IVR at Mantripukhri, supporters of O Henry raised objections saying that the road repairing work affected the drain.
They even brought a JCB and started removing the shingles.
"On learning about the objections and the resultant tense situation, I personally went to the spot with my security escorts.
But on the way, Henry's security escorts opened and his supporters pelted stones towards our vehicles," Erabot conveyed.
Charging that O Henry is being allowed to do whatever he likes in Wangkhei AC in addition to threatening many people, Minister Erabot asked the Home Department on what ground and parameters security guards are being allotted to O Henry.
Informing that subversive activities perpetrated by Henry and his gang were raised in a meeting of the Congress Legislature Party, Erabot asserted that he would yield to the alleged arm twisting tactics of the 'father-son duo' to take control of the State within their hands.
