In their continuing anti-drug campaign, four contraband tablet abusers including three peddlers were nabbed by the Singjamei branches of AMSU and MSF yesterday, informed a joint statement issued by the two student bodies.
The three persons nabbed in connection with peddling of illegal tablets are identified as Leishangthem Birla (24) of Singjamei Leishangthem Leikai, Loitongbam Manaobi alias Jimmy (24) of Chingamakha Irom Leikai and Laishram Nickson (24) of Chingamakha Liwa Road.
All these persons along with the other one pulled up for drug abuse (tablets) was handed over to their respective families after being reprimanded with a final warning, the statement mentioned.
During the campaign launched on March 21, altogether 38 drug abusers have been reprimanded.
Observing that identities of tablet abusers and sellers have been learnt from apprehended drug abusers, AMSU and MSF have warned all the drug abusers of Singjamei area to give up themselves at the office of AMSU Singjamei branch within three days.
It further maintained that the sole responsibility for any untoward incident to those who fail to heed the warning should be borne by the individuals concerned.
Till date, a large number of illegal tablets (N-10, SP etc) have been seized by the volunteers of the two student bodies, it added.
