Imphal, April 06:
Strongly reacting to statement given by the Commissioner of Education (S) during the closing function of a SSA workshop held at the conference of Youth Hostel, Khuman Lampak yesterday, MSF conveyed suspicion of the Commissioner's involvement in the attempt to keep back text books meant for school students.
Briefing media persons at its head office today, MSF vice-president Md Atabudin expressed strong disapproval at the Commissioner's statement.
Quoting the statement of the Commissioner that, "students are engaging in distributing text books rather than concentrating on their studies", Atabudin accused the Commissioner of attempting to present all student bodies in the wrong light while he is conveniently overlooking all the irregularities in his own Department and other errors committed by officials of the Department.
Regarding MSF's programme of distributing text books to poor students, he clarified that the text books are actually meant for distribution to poor students of class I to VIII under SSA scheme in 2005-06. MSF distributed the text books to poor students after confiscating them from ZEO offices as the concerned officials have been holding them back with narrow personal motives, he disclosed.
Such false propaganda of the Commissioner aimed at discrediting student bodies when he cannot keep concealed the wrong-doings in his Department is most unfortunate, remarked the MSF vice-president.
