Lamka, May 14 2012:
The 72-hour general strike sponsored by the KSDC in demand for a separate Kuki State has affected normal life here as it completed the second day with shops downing their shutters and vehicles remaining off the roads.
Yesterday being Sunday, the impact of the bandh was minimal but its true impact was felt today as bandh volunteers obstructed people from resuming their normal activities and instead advise them to remain indoor.
Volunteers were stationed at least in four places along the Tedim road in between the town and the district's border village of Kangvai while some have made occasional appearances inside the town.

Isolated instances of bandh supporters burning tyres were witnessed as the local police have gradually doused them and disperse the crowd.
