Imphal, February 11, 2012:
The All Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union; Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, Manipur State Branch; All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union; and Kanglatombi Gram Panchayat have decried the alleged attempted molestation of a 14 year old girl at Takamai, Senapati Headquarters on February 9. According to the General Secretary of Bhartiya Gorkha Parisangh, Manipur State Branch, Bhira Lama Karki, on February 9, unidentified miscreants had attempted to molest a 14-years old girl while she was herding goats.
On that day, the victim's parents went to attend a wedding and she was entrusted to look after the goats.
Disturbed by her long absence, the victim's parents searched for her when they returned home after the wedding ceremony, Bhira Karki said.
To their utter surprise, the parents found their daughter lying unconscious at a spot near Mount Everest School in Senapati headquarters, Karki maintained.
She was then taken to hospital without anybody's assistance.
Due to grave injury in the eyes and face, she was later evacuated to ENT Ward of RIMS Hospital, he added.
A case has been filed at the Kangpokpi Police Station in this regard.
In order to help the police in determining the fact that she was raped or not, her clothing on that day have also been handed over to the police.
Further, Bhira Lama Karki demanded that the law enforcing agency books the culprits involved in such tardy incident and fitting punishment be given to them.
