Tamenglong, May 10 2015 :
The joint social civil organisations of Inpui tribe- Inpui Naga Union, All Inpui Students' Union, Inpui Naga Women's Union, Inpui Naga Baptist Churches Association and Ebion Public School, Ijeirong have earnestly appealed to all the factions of underground groups to refrain from factional clashes and killings in their jurisdiction.
In a joint statement the organisations said that Haochong area, Tamenglong district is nothing less than a battlefield which has hampered the normal activities and traumatized the innocent people.
The statement said that on May 7, one Nk Shajonba Inpui was found dead in a jungle around 1.5 km away from Ijeirong village.
On the pretext of questioning, the commanding officer of 9 Dogra Regiment operating as Temporary Operating Batch at Puichi (Oktan), summoned the village authority member, Alimba Inka, teacher cum warden of Ebion Public School, Ijeirong along with his two students to the spot where Nk Shajonba Inpui was found dead.
The commanding officer, a Major, then started to physically assault Alimba Inka in front of the students, the statement alleged.
Womenfolk and students rushed to the spot but they were threatened and abused verbally by the officer.
The parents were also forced to slap their children who were at the spot in front of the Major.
The frontal organisations strongly condemned the incident and demanded that the Major be transferred immediately and to compensate the injured victims.
Appealing to the higher authority concerned to look into the matter seriously and resolve the issue, the civil society organisations warned that they would resort to rigorous forms of agitation in case their demands are not met.
