NH blockade begins, 12 vehicles damaged in Jiribam

Jiribam, July 06 2014:
The blockade jointly clamped by AMSU District Committee Jiribam, DESAM Local Council, KSA Jiribam Unit, MSF Special Branch have started their indefinite total blockade on NH 37 from the midnight of July 5 .
The blockade supporters damaged 12 vehicles including Bolero, Tata trucks of the Railway Project, which were escorted by police.
The Barak Circle Development Committee (BCDDC) general secretary Vanlalhriet Hmar said that they would fully support the agitation.
Schools and offices of Barak Circle remained closed during the blockade.
Vanlalhriet Hmar expressed concern over the inadequacies of teachers and school buildings in Lower and Higher secondary schools of the Sub-Division.
The student bodies have been highlighting the issue of lack of school teachers and buildings especially in Jiribam Government Higher Secondary School to the State Governments.
Although the student organisations and representatives of the State Government inked an agreement on October 25 last year, the State Government is maintaining stoic silence on the demands of the students, agitating students said.
The student organisations also appealed the transporters and drivers to co-operate them.
National projects, especially Railway Project would be put on halt during the blockade, they added.
