Imphal, May 04 2017:
The Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) has questioned the inability of the BJP-led coalition Government to include establishment of highway protection force in its list of works which the Government says would be completed within 100 days.
Speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan here today, MPYCC president Amir Hussain and MPYCC (Inner Lok Sabha) president E Dayananda pointed out that the State Cabinet has already adopted a decision to deploy highway protection force.
But non-inclusion of the same task in the 100 days ' programme evoked a strong suspicion that the Government has sidelined the issue.
Since the coalition Government was established, there has been repeated attacks on transporters ferrying essential commodities to the State.
The protest rally taken out by transporters/drivers was a clear indication that they are' not impressed with the security measures taken by the Government .
Apart from opening fire at vehicles, different forms of 'taxes' are being levied on vehicles travelling along Imphal-Dimapur highway.
Amir Hussain and Dayananda further asked if the BJP-led coalition Government has totally overlooked the issue of ILPS.
They also questioned the stoic silence of the State Government over the dead bodies of Churachandpur whose last rites are yet to be performed.
