World Soil Month observed

World Soil Month was observed today at Tadubi Rural Haat.
The programme was organised by Green Foundation, Imphal in collaboration with ACCORDS under the sponsorship of NABARD.
MS Jerome, Managing Director, ACCORDS welcomed the participants and exhorted them to take forward the green technology to their farms to enhance productivity and income generation.
Ch Basanta Roy, DAO/Horti, Imphal West spoke on the importance of conservation of soil and soil health and application of smart organic agriculture while Hemat, founder & CEO, Green Foundation shared on the impacts and prospects of organic agriculture and horticulture on human health and economy.
Green Foundation is the only agency in Manipur dealing with processing and issue of organic certification.
There are three aspects of organic certification viz., land, farmer and crop.
The Foundation under the aegis of NABARD is producing bio-pesticides and bio-fertilizers in the larger interests of the farmers and the same is being distributed to them at free of cost.
Interested farmers may obtain organic certification and bio inputs through the help of ACCORDS.
About 100 women farmers from Tadubi, Shajouba, Kaibi and Makhel villages, who were also beneficiaries of Wadi projects under ACCORDS, participated in the programme and received free liquid bio-fertilizers and bio-pesticides from the Foundation.
